What do you do in your current position?
I’m currently an editor at JustJared.com in New York City where I write daily about all things entertainment. I also cover the occasional red carpet, interview actors and musicians, and secure exclusive content through my relationships with different publicists, studios, and labels.
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part of the job is meeting other pop culture junkies. I also love geeking out on the sets of my favorite TV shows. It’s fun (and eye-opening) to see the inner workings of the entertainment business.
What made you choose journalism?
I always loved writing, but I wasn’t sure I was good at it. I worked really hard to hone my skills, with a lot of guidance and encouragement from Professors Cole, Shaw, and Pearson.
Tell us about the importance of getting involved in student media at TCNJ.
I was a bit of an overachiever and involved myself in every media-related group on campus. I was president of TCNJ’s Ed2010 chapter and editor-in-chief of the campus’ online magazine. I also did some copy-editing and writing for The Signal. If my schedule wasn’t crazy enough, I commuted to NYC three times a week to intern at Marie Claire and CosmoGIRL! magazines. All of these opportunities allowed me to gain experience in both print and digital, while exposing me to a great network of influencers who helped me land post-grad positions.
